Goose-Stepping Nazi's

TheState.com - Your South Carolina Everything Guide

Hey, don’t get me wrong. I was born in Charleston (just south of the Goose Creek in this story). I am not beating up on small town police, I am railing against the Gestapo. In this little tidbit we find real live Nazis, goose-stepping all over the constitutional rights of citizens in a little place aptly named, Goose Creek.

Sure I hate drugs in school as much as the next fellow. But imagine this. Your child, innocent of any wrong doing, is forced to lay face down as men yell, scream and point guns at them. That is exactly what occurred Nov. 5 of 2003 to an entire high school full of young folks. In the end no drugs were found; drugs being the entire motivation for the raid.

Many in America have forgotten some of the more flagrant or at least publicized examples of police trampling the constitutional rights of citizens from the 1990’s. The wacko’s of the ultra-right wing fringe latched on to the events of Waco, Ruby Ridge and other events. Mainstream America did not stand up and demand retribution for the tyranny visited on citizens then.

The world has changed much in the last 14 years. During the Clinton administration radical liberal wackos used the power of the police to “crack down” on the right wing fringe. After all these were just religious crazies that the government was after. That reminds me of the Germans in the 1930’s. Ordinary Germans did not speak out when it was just the Gypsies, homosexuals or Jews that were hauled off. Later when the knocks came to the doors of "regular" Germans because maybe somebody “reported" them, it was too late to stop the whole thing. The rights secured for us in the Constitution apply to us all. When they are trampled in one place we all lose.

In the 1990’s Americans accepted terms such as “War on Drugs” without fully contemplating what war means. War comes at a price. As this story indicates there are some people that carry guns and make decisions that believe that the price to fight this war is acceptable even if it means trampling the Constitution.

September 11th further numbed Americans to the peril of tyranny that faces us. We added to the War on Drugs the War on Terror and accepted the many invasions of our privacy and rights that we face now everyday.

This little example of tyranny in a small town is but the tip of a large iceberg. The bozo’s in the Goose Creek police department, the idiots in the Stratford High School administration all should know better. Tyranny has polluted their minds and power has corrupted their thought processes just as it has so many others.

Ordinary Americans do not think often of the bigger picture in all of this. Few realize that the rights we as have citizens have surrendered over the last decade will never be returned to us. Brave men fought and often died to first secure and then defend our liberties and then our rights. We ought to ask ourselves at what cost do we wish to wage these various “wars”? What is the real cost to us and our freedom?

It could be that the druggies, terrorist and the like have struck a blow deeper and more damaging than they ever envisioned. Our own ignorance, placidness and meekness has allowed the Republic that once protected our freedoms to die. In its place is a tyranny as awful and oppressive as the Roman Empire after the death of their Republic is now being born.

The means do not justify the end if in the course of reaching your objective you shed all of the principles and values that once made you great. Think about it.
